The resort village wishes to remind our residents to only utilize the services of septic haulers that have received their Letter of Approval from our resort. We need to ensure that all haulers who attend into Sunset Cove have a current certificate from the Water Security Agency and that they carry adequate insurance in case of a mishap.

Currently, Aquarius and NorthShore are the only two septic haulers permitted to conduct business within our resort. The fines for both the home owner and septic haulers for violating our bylaw are substantial. We kindly request that all residents only use septic haulers off of our approved list. Thank you.

Recently, our minimum fire callout fee rose from $5,000.00 to $8,000.00. This fee is for any event that our fire service responds to, including false alarms. This fee increases by $3,000.00 if the fire service are on site for more than 3 hours and for every three hour period after that. If additional fire services or specialized equipment is required, there would be additional fees associated to that. (Kannata Valley had five different fire services respond to their 2018 fire).

While previously, having a $10,000 in insurance coverage for a fire response was generally considered adequate, this is no longer the case. One may want to consider increasing their insurance coverage here to $20,000.00 dollars, which generally should cover your costs regarding fighting a large fire. Remember, these costs are initially billed to our Resort Village, which then applies them to your taxes, if they are left unpaid.

Sunset Cove has purchased a “live” trap which will capture nuisance animals unhurt, so they may be removed from the resort and released elsewhere. This trap will accommodate large pests such as raccoons, squirrels, rabbits, porcupines, skunks, cats, etc.  

If you are in need of this device, please contact me. If the demand is high, we will purchase additional traps. Please keep children away from all captured animals, as most animals will bite if little fingers get too close.

You will be responsible for the removal of any trapped animals that you capture.
