Public Notice – Suspicious Activity

PUBLIC NOTICE – SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

Posted: September 11, 2026

Residents of the Resort Village of Sunset Cove (Sunset Cove) are advised that there were twoseparate reports of suspicious activity within our community on the evening of Thursday, September 10, 2026. These reports describe a white, older model (2010-2017) VW Jetta four-door sedan, with rust on the rear wheel wells “cruising” the village, sometimes at excessive speed. There were two Caucasian occupants who were both wearing black hoodies, pulled up over their heads. It is reported that the driver was barely tall enough to see over the steering wheel, and that both appeared to be barely old enough to have driver’s licenses. At times it appeared that they were eyeing properties to see what they could steal.

This activity has been reported to the RCMP. Residents are asked to report document / record /photograph details of suspicious vehicles, persons, and any such activities and to immediately call former Mayor / Councillor, retired police officer, Tom Fulcher at 306-533-1557, who willattend and interview suspicious individuals.

If comfortable doing so, residents can also approach such persons in a friendly manner and ask “Can I help you? Are you looking for someone?” Such an innocent conversation will almost always scare the individuals away as they now know they have been identified as not belonging to our community.

Please stay vigilant and review the following crime prevention tips:

• Ensure boat and Seadoo trailers have hitch locks to prevent theft;

• Keep valuables out of sight from the roadway;

• Lock all sheds and other out-buildings;

• Lock your house doors when leaving your property;

• Keep your yard neatly groomed as well-maintained properties are statistically much less prone to break and enters;

• Report and record any incidents of suspicious activity; and

• Have some interior lights on timers.

We thank you all in helping to keep our community safe!

Draft Building Bylaw for your review

Residents of Sunset Cove – Draft Building Bylaw for your review

Every community in Saskatchewan is required to have an official document known as a Building Bylaw, which is the document that prescribes the construction, renovation and demolition standards to be met for projects undertaken within the community. This bylaw requires an update to meet the new requirements of new provincial standards before 2027.

The new Building Bylaw is based on a template with content approved by the applicable provincial regulators and enforced by our contracted building inspection officials, Professional Building Inspections, Inc. (PBI).

Please find atached a link to our new (draft) Building Bylaw. We ask that our residents review this document and provide any comments, in writing, to our Administrator prior to September 25th, 2026 via email (rvsunsetcove@sasktel.net)

Thank you
